Jean MONDA proiectează la intersecţia străzilor Polonă şi Alexandru Philippide (atunci Pia Brătianu) un imobil Art Deco cu aluzii Moderniste, aproape simetric dezvoltat faţă de axul bisectoarei celor două străzi. Acest ax este marcat printr-o teşitură a faţadelor la parter şi printr-un bovindou care descrie un sfert de cerc în plan la etajele superioare. Coronamentul acestui volum este de asemenea curbat şi este ornat cu trei pilaştri epuraţi angajaţi.
Rezolvarea volumetrică este similară cu cea pentru clădirile din străzile Tudor Arghezi, Theodor Aman şi George Enescu, cu o diferenţă majoră: deşi nu ştim cu exactitate gama cromatică iniţială este foarte probabil ca imobilul să fi fost gândit policrom de la început, fapt unic pentru Jean MONDA.
Jean MONDA designs on the corner of Polonă and Alexandru Philippide streets (back then called Pia Brătianu) an Art Deco building with Modernist hints, developed almost symmetrically to the bisector axis of the two streets. This axis is marked through a beveling of the facades on the ground level and through a bow-window, shaped as a quarter of circle in plan, on the upper floors. The crown molding of this volume is also curved and is decorated with three cleansed attached pilasters.
The volumetric solution is similar to the one for the buildings in Tudor Arghezi, Theodor Aman and George Enescu streets, with one major difference: although we don’t know with absolute certitude the initial color palette, it is very likely that the building was designed to be polychrome, which is unique for Jean MONDA.
